INED is currently supervising two surveys on the elderly population in Europe (FELICIE and MAGGIE projects) and is involved in four projects funded under specific agreements: the CAHRV project on human rights violations, the IMISCOE project on international migration and social cohesion, the EMILIE project on multicultural citizenship and lastly, the MicMac project to develop software for forecasting population changes.

INED is also coordinating an EU-funded programme concerning African populations (ECAF) in association with European and African laboratories.

Population Europe, the European Population Partnership

Since December 2009, INED has been taking part, along with 18 other European research centers in demography, in a network called Population Europe: the European Population Partnership. Its main goal is to allow a quick diffusion of relevant and scientific pieces of information, in order to keep the debate on population issues in Europe going.

It is meant for quite a demography-informed audience that however need not absolutely be part of the academic world, but it is also intended for a larger audience, like the American PRB (Population Reference Bureau).

The network enjoys the European Commission's support (DG Emploi) but has also been strongly encouraged by the Max Plank Institute for Demographic Research (The Rostock Max Planck Institute). A three people secretariat based in Berlin in the Max Planck buildings is responsible for the website maintenance, contacts the network's partners and answers inquiries.
