Alfred Sauvy

Alfred Sauvy
Alfred Sauvy was appointed as director of INED by decree on 3 November 1945, and remained in office until 1962. He was an economist, statistician and demographer, but also a columnist and writer, and his personality marked both the Institute's scientific priorities and its working methods. From the start, he was keen for INED to develop a multi-disciplinary profile and to welcome researchers from a broad range of academic backgrounds.
