The EU Framework Programme for Research

INED collaborates on many of the major research projects funded by the European Union through the EU Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FPRTD)

Many of the research studies conducted at INED fit into the framework of the international research projects funded by the European Commission for the purpose of shedding new light on social and economic issues. Demographic questions are at the heart of these socio-economic challenges. INED’s interdisciplinary character is also a crucial asset for these projects, which take on wide-ranging problems and issues requiring multiform partnerships.
Research funding is allocated by the EU’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation through the Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (FPRTD). Since the 5th FP, INED has taken part in more than ten European projects, two Networks of Excellence (NoEs) and three training-through-research networks. The Institute has also hosted several researchers awarded Marie Curie Fellowships (bourses Marie Curie).
The first calls for projects of the upcoming Framework Programme, called Horizon 2020 (8th FPRTD, extended to Innovation) have already been sent out. Horizon 2020 will be allocating a total of nearly €80 billion in funding over seven years, 2014-2020.
