Académie des sciences

The Académie des sciences brings together French scholars with the objective of promoting scientific research by showcasing its members' research, publishing scientific reports and awarding prizes. Agence de la biomédecine

Agence Nationale pour l'Amélioration des Conditions de Travail (ANACT)

ANACT is a public body under the administrative supervision of the Ministry of Labour. It is part of a network of 26 regional associations for the improvement of working conditions (ARACT). Its aim is to improve the professional lives of workers and optimize corporate efficiency in terms of working conditions, legislation and occupational health. Agence nationale pour la cohésion sociale et l'égalité des chances (Acsé)

The ACSE is a public institution of administrative nature under the administrative supervision of the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Urban Development. It was created under the equal opportunities law of 31 March 2006.

Assemblée nationale

The website of the French National Assembly provides access to proceedings from parlimentary sessions and committees and to reports by members of parliament. The Assembly's timetable and information on the European and international projects of the Palais-Bourbon are also available. Caisse d'allocations familiales (CAF)

The CAF website provides links to five secondary websites which cater to different social groups: beneficiaries, students, community groups and partners have access to extensive information on the benefits paid out by the CAF, its activities, annual reports and key figures. Caisse nationale d'assurances vieillesse (CNAV)

The CNAV manages the pension schemes of workers who fall under the general social security scheme. It tracks wage employees' pension entitlements, makes pension payments and supports vulnerable pensioners. It also compiles statistics and makes projections on the financial prospects of the general social security scheme. The CNAV research department carries out studies on the social aspects of population ageing. It provides access to institutional publications, reports and other documents. The Cité nationale de l'histoire de l'immigration came into existence in October 2007. It is under the joint administrative supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research and the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Comité Consultatif National d'Ethique (CCNE)

The Comité National Consultatif d'Ethique (CCNE) for life sciences and health was created under the law of 6 August 2004. The primary mission of this independent authority is to produce and publish announcements and reports. The State and public institutions can refer matters to the CCNE or the CCNE can take up matters on its own initiative. Its 40 members are elected for their expertise in bioethics. Conseil d'Etat

Created by a constitutional convention in 1790, the French Council of State fulfills two key historical functions. It advises the government when a bill or a decree is under consideration and renders judgment on disputes related to administrative acts. The Council manages the administrative appeal courts, administrative tribunals and the national tribunal for the right of asylum. Conseil d'orientation des retraites (COR)

The Conseil d'orientation des retraites ("Pensions Advisory Council") was created in 2000. Conseil de l'emploi, des revenus et de la cohésion sociale (CERC)

The CERC came into existence under the State Council decree of 7 July 2000. Its primary aim is to provide information on income levels, social inequalities and on the links between employment, income and social cohesion. It also evaluates social inequalities as they relate to redistribution mechanisms and informs the government and the general public of improvements to be made. Défenseur des droits

The appointment of a Défenseur des droits (Defender of rights) was instituted by the constitutional revision of 23 July 2008. This institution replaces the Défenseur des enfants (Children's ombudsman ), the Haute autorité de lutte contre les discriminations et pour l'égalité (High commission against discrimination and for equality) and the Commission nationale de déontologie de la sécurité (National commission on ethics in security).
The first defender of rights is Dominique Baudis, appointed by the government in June 2011 for a non-renewable term of six years. This portal is provided by the interministerial committee on urban planning and is under the responsibility of the Ministry of Labour. The committee creates, presents and evaluates policies designed for disadvantaged districts. It provides scientific and prospective analyses.

The MILDT (an interministerial organization for the fight against drugs and drug addiction) was established in 1982 and is under the Prime Minister's authority. Its mission is to lead and coordinate government activities in France. The French family planning movement (MFPF) is a non-governmental organization created in the 1950s with a view to promoting the use of contraception. Observatoire national de la pauvreté et de l'exclusion sociale - Ministère du travail, des relations sociales et de la solidarité

Founded in 1998, the role of the Observatoire national de la pauvreté et de l'exclusion sociale is to bring together previously disparate data on situations of poverty, precariousness and social exclusion. It also commissions research and studies and disseminates the information obtained to the French government, parliament and the general public.

Observatoire national interministériel de la sécurité routière (ONISR)

Office français de l'immigration et de l'intégration (OFII)

The French immigration and integration office (OFII) has a dual mission: it hosts and assists foreigners who wish to migrate to France and assists French citizens and workers who wish to settle abroad. The OFII, a state-run administration, was established under the law of 18 January 2005. It replaces the ANAEM and shares the objectives and support services of the French organization for international migration and the Service Social d'Aide aux Emigrants.

Service de l’adoption internationale - Ministère des affaires étrangères et européennes

The department of international adoption, for which provision was made in the Hague Convention, is hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was created under the decrees of 16 March and 14 April 2009. It develops international adoption strategies, grants authorizations and oversees bodies certified for adoption (OAA), under private law. This department also cooperates with the different embassies in the interest of orphans. It provides expert advice and closely monitors the evolution of adoption procedures. Union nationale des associations familiales (UNAF)

Founded in 1945, UNAF has four major roles: to provide public authorities with the benefit of its expertise, to act on behalf of all families, to manage all family services entrusted to it by the State and to represent families in legal proceedings. It manages the URAF network (22 regional unions of family associations) and the UDAF network (100 local unions of family associations).
