Chaire Quetelet

Founded in 1974 to celebrate the World Population Year and the hundredth anniversary of the death of Adolphe Quételet, a prominent Belgian statistician and demographer, the Chaire Quételet is held annually in the form of an international conference devoted to a theme selected for its importance in the field of population studies.The INED library holds the full collection of Chaire Quételet proceedings, with contributions by researchers from many countries, notably Europe and Africa.
The programmes since 1999 and certain papers since 2005 are available online.

Commission on Population and Development Sessions / CPD sessions

A Population Commission was established by the Economic and Social Council in its resolution 3 (III) of 3 October 1946. In its resolution 49/128 of 19 December 1994, the General Assembly decided that the Commission should be renamed the Commission on Population and Development. In the same resolution, the Assembly decided that it, the Council and the Commission should constitute a three-tiered intergovernmental mechanism that would play the primary role in the follow-up to the implementation of the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, and that the Commission, as a functional commission assisting the Council, would monitor, review and assess the implementation of the Programme of Action at the national, regional and international levels and advise the Council thereon.

Entretiens du Centre Jacques Cartier

Created in 1987, the Entretiens Jaques Cartier revolve around four main priority areas. The first involves specialized scientific symposiums initiated and managed by the various centres of excellence in the Rhône-Alpes region. The second involves seminars on major societal issues, both current and future, and the third focuses on social economics. The cultural aspect is the fourth pivotal point of this annual event which, depending on the year, takes place either in the Rhône-Alpes region or in Quebec.
