Council of European Social Science Data Archives (CESSDA)

The Council of European Social Science Data Archives promotes the acquisition, archiving and distribution of electronic data for social science teaching and research in Europe. It encourages the exchange of data and technology and fosters the development of new organisations in sympathy with its aims. It associates and cooperates with other international organisations sharing similar objectives.
The CESSDA portal allow easy access to the catalogues of member organisations and provide a central news forum about its activities and other relevant information.

Elfe (French Longitudinal Study of Children) - Ined, Insee, Inserm, Invs, Drees, Depp, Dgs, Dep

The project Elfe aims at building a cohort of 20,000 children, nationally representative, to be followed from birth to adulthood under a multidisciplinary approach.
The longitudinal study should be a unique source of data to analyse the child's development in its context, allowing to study the various factors interacting all over the life course up to adulthood (family structure, social and physical environment, schooling, health and nutritional behaviour...) and to clarify the impact of the experience lived during infancy on the individual's physical, psychological, social and professional development. From an epidemiological point of view, it will be possible to measure the cumulative exposures to specific environmental conditions or behaviours year after year and to analyse their consequences on social and health inequalities.

Enquête TRA

The 3000 families survey was launched in the early 1980s. It is based on the systematic reconstitution of the trajectories and the descendants of all individuals whose last name begins with the letters "TRA". Organized around two parts - demography and inheritance - this project has spawned numerous studies on the economic history of France in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The data from the TRA-inheritance survey are available free of charge, but their use imposes responsibilities upon the user.

European value study

Initiated in the late 1970's, the European Values Study is a large-scale, cross-national, and longitudinal survey research program on basic human values aiming at exploring the moral and social values underlying European social and political institutions and governing conduct. After a first survey in 1981, the interest raised by the project led to the constitution of a unique data set, covering 26 countries. Family Life Survey - RAND Labor and Population

The RAND Family Life Surveys are a set of detailed household and community surveys of developing countries conducted by RAND, in collaboration with research institutions in the given countries. The currently available country surveys cover Malaysia (1976-77, 1988-89), Indonesia (1993), Guatemala (1995), and Bangladesh (1996)

Fertility and Family survey (FFS) - United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)

These surveys have been conducted in the 1990s in about 20 ECE member countries. Standard country table gives access to 36 tables on economic, social, cultural and population indicators, household structure, partnership formation, fertility, contraception, sexual behaviour, contraception, abortion, female employment and children, summary measures for selected life events.For the period 2000-03, the PAU launched a project called "Generations and Gender: Research into their behaviour and quality of life". Some activities related to the FFS project continue under this new project. It will provide cross-sectional and longitudinal data, through a three-wave panel study with three-year intervals, covering the resident population aged 18 - 79 years of both sexes of the participating countries

Generation and Gender (GGS) - United Nations. Economic commission for Europe

The Generations and Gender Surveys (GGS) is a panel survey in European coutries with at least three panel waves and an interval of three years between each wave. Its main objective is to improve understanding of demographic and social development and of the factors that influence these developments, with a particular attention towards relationships between children and parents (generations) and relationships between partners (gender).The contextual databases are designed to complement the micro-level survey data in multi-level analyses.

Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS) - UNICEF
