Founded in 1967, UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA helps governments, at their request, to formulate policies and strategies to reduce poverty and support sustainable development. The Fund also assists countries to collect and analyse population data that can help them understand population trends.

The site is available in 4 languages: English, French, Spanish and Arabic.

The Millennium Development Goals (MDG) are defined via the themes covered on the site: reproductive health, supporting adolescents and youth, preventing HIV/AIDS, promoting gender equality, etc.

A wide range of publications are available on line, including the "State of World Population" annual report, multimedia documents¸ videos, on-line animations, photos and posters.
