The EU Framework Programme for Research

INED collaborates on some of the major research projects funded by the European Union via its Framework Programme for Research Technological Development (FPRTD).

Many of the research studies run at the Institute are part of international research projects funded by the European Commission to shed light on economic and social issues. Demographic questions are at the core of these socio-economic challenges. INED’s fundamental interdisciplinary emphasis is an essential asset in these projects, which cover wide-ranging research questions and require multiple types of partners.
Funding is allocated by the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation. Since the Fifth FP (1998-2002), INED has taken part in more than ten European projects, two Networks of Excellence and three networks for training in research through research, and coordinates a RISE staff exchange project. The Institute has also hosted several researchers with Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions individual fellowships.
The Eighth FP, launched in 2014 and entitled Horizon 2020, encompasses innovation and is endowed with funds amounting to 80 billion euros for the seven-year period 2014-2020. It will be followed in 2021 with the Ninth FP; negotiations in connection with this programme got underway in 2017.
