A new, more accessible website to learn everything you want to know about population!

a place where scientific research results are put into perspective in the service of society at large.

INED has redesigned its website, ined.fr, to make population research studies even more accessible to the public at large.
The new site is intended to further facilitate visitors’ and users’ understanding of demographic issues, and it is an integral component of the Institute’s official work and mission: to diffuse knowledge, to diffuse what research enables us to learn.

In a context where population questions—such as birth numbers and birth rates, aging, migration, inequalities, family structures, and others—fuel society’s public debates, INED has chosen to develop a more accessible website, designed so that everyone can grasp and understand information that is often perceived as complex.

The new site takes disabled users into account. And is attentive to our carbon footprint.

Subjects that resonate with current events and situations

Interviews, brief texts that focus on particular topics or issues (they’re called “Focus”), questions and concise answers—the content of the site draws on our researchers’ expertise to explain and shed light on current developments and to present tangible information and data.

Making the figures speak

The new INED website has more data visualizations, and there are interactive maps and animated infographics to help users get a complete grasp of the subjects. Also, we’ve made it easier for site visitors to explore research results.

Including specialist users and outside experts

While the new site’s main concern is to effectively reach the public at large, researchers, journalists, and policymakers will find detailed resources on it, including scientific publications, databases, survey methodologies, and teaching tools. In connection with this last need, we’ve set up a new teaching and learning resources space with content for secondary school students and teachers that is directly in sync with France’s National Education programs.

ined.fr is an online space dedicated to scientific mediation, a place where scientific research results are put into perspective in the service of society at large.
