Becoming a parent Childbearing behaviour and parent-child relationships depend on many factors, each of which develops according to its own logic while together they constitute a coherent whole. This project focuses on political and economic determinants, norms and representations—the medicalization of procreation is crucial in this connection— and the legal constraints framing reproductive and parenting behaviours. To apprehend the situation in France, nearly all analyses draw on comparisons between that country and one or several other European countries.
