Population dynamics in time and space

This first major area of INED’s general scientific program for 2026-2030 involves the foundational, fundamental subjects of demography: population dynamics in time as shown by fertility, mortality, and migration trends, and how those dynamics vary across space. INED studies emphasize the temporal and geographical “granularity” of data as it is access to increasingly fine-grained and precise data that makes it possible to do directional tendency and comparative studies at both larger and more tightly circumscribed geographic scales, in turn making it possible to apply and compare local and global perspectives.
