Our commitments

Scientific integrity and professional and public service ethics are among INED’s fundamental concerns. Moreover, the Institute has an active policy in favor of sharing scientific findings, while of course complying with the imperative to protect personal data. Furthermore, all activities at INED are governed by our recognition of the need for sustainable, responsible development.

Scientific integrity and public service ethics

INED has signed and adheres to France’s national charter of ethics in research professions; scientific rigor, integrity and accountability are of crucial importance at our Institute. As is mutual respect and respectful behavior, an active commitment to combating harassment and discrimination, and the entire set of ethical professional behaviors that characterize public service. Implementing our “science and society” approach

INED communicates its findings as widely as possible to the French public authorities, society at large, and, especially, young audiences. We are also engaged in participatory research projects. Read more

Data protection

Population research often involves processing personal data. INED guarantees transparent, responsible, and ethical management of all personal data collected or used in its research activities. In doing so, we are complying with the applicable data protection laws: the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) 2026/679 of April 27, 2016; and the French Data Protection Act of January 6, 1978 (amended), relating to information technology, files, and civil liberties. .
