Life course, social relations, and inequalities

Inequalities between social groups is and always has been central to INED research and is a component of all Institute studies. In this second major research area, the emphasis is on analysis of social inequalities from the specific angle of the life course; these studies will therefore have a longitudinal dimension. This is because social inequalities operate and are constructed across the different periods of life from childhood all the way to old age. Here they are also conceived in terms of the intersectional dimensions of gender, race or origin, social class, sexual identity, and types of sexuality.
