She succeeds Chantal Cases, who held the position for 6 years.
Magda Tomasini, 46, comes to INED from the Ministry of Health and Social Services where she served from 2011 as assistant director of the Observation de la Solidarité section of the Direction de la Recherche, des Etudes, de l’Evaluation et des Statistiques (DREES). Prior to that, 2008-2011, she headed the household income and assets section at the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies or INSEE.
After graduating from the Ecole Nationale de la Statistique et de l’Administration Economique (ENSAE), Ms Tomasini taught statistics there, also becoming an INSEE Administrator. In 2001 she joined the Direction de l’Animation de la Recherche, des Etudes et des Statistiques (DARES) as assistant to the head of the employment section.
From 2003 to 2006 she headed the office of higher education statistiques at the Direction de l’Evaluation, de la Prospective et de la Performance (DEPP). She then served for two years, 2006-2008, as head of the statistics, forecasting and analysis department of the Caisse Nationale des Allocations Familiales (CNAF) family fund of the national social security system.
