INED has published the initial findings of the Study on Family and Intergenerational Relationships (ERFI 2), which sheds light on the changes in family patterns underlying the decline in fertility.

A decline in the desire to have children, later entry into parenthood, the rise of civil partnerships, the growth of blended families, the increasing presence of same-sex couples, and new ways of meeting partners: far from signaling a decline of the family, these changes reflect a diversification in the ways people live as couples and start families.
