The scheme is aimed at highlighting the achievements of those towards the start of their careers and who have the potential to make a significant contribution to population studies.
The committee making the decision commended Dr Väisänen's well-rounded CV, which "includes excellent research but also substantial contributions to the discipline of population studies beyond your research, including, just as one example, the FemQuant initiative.
As the award winner, Dr Väisänen will give a plenary on the 14th of Semptember in the upcoming BSPS conference.
