Residential areas and spatial dynamics

Our research focuses on the interactions between people and the spaces they inhabit. On the one hand, individuals contribute to (re)shaping the spaces they live in, frequent (and leave) through their mobility, social practices and the evolutions of their professional and family situations. On the other hand, inhabited places, marked by lifestyles, varying degrees of conflict between social groups, and more or less endowed with resources, influence the social destinies of residents and their mobility choices. These two approaches – people-based and place-based - are often studied separately, but are mutually enriching.
