Horizon Europe Program

Horizon Europe

Horizon Europe is the name of the European Union research and innovation framework program for 2021-2027. It follows on the Horizon 2020 program, which ended with 2020.

The new program will have a budget of approximately € 95.5 billion for the 2021-2027 period, including € 5.4 billion for NextGenerationEU, designed as a stimulus and support for future resilience, and an additional € 4.5 billion to further strengthen recovery after the 2020 pandemic year.

These totals represent an increase of approximately 30% over Horizon 2020, making Horizon Europe the largest research and innovation program in the world. The funds will also be used for contributions from future associated countries.

As was the case for Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe (2021-2027) activities will be determined through open, competitive calls for research grant proposals.
