Collaboration framework agreement between INED and the Hungarian Demographic Research Institute (HDRI)

On November 26, 2018, INED Director Magda Tomasini and Hungarian Demographic Research Institute Director Zsolt Spéder signed a collaboration framework agreement between their two institutions.

The HDRI is the only research institute in Hungary that carries out research on population issues and processes. It became an independent institute in 1968, making it one of the oldest independent demographic research institutes in Europe.

The HDRI has maintained a close relationship with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and its demography committee, which pays continuous attention to the Institute’s professional and scientific work.

The partnership with INED is expected to operate in three activity areas: research, training, and the diffusion and promotion of scientific research.

Specifically:

  • hosting students for all types of exchanges, such as research and work internships;
  • inviting researchers and technicians from the partner institution to give seminars and lectures;
  • sharing data—survey, statistical, and databases—under certain conditions;
  • jointly organizing seminars, lectures and other scientific events;
  • publishing;
  • organizing documentation center collaboration.

HDRI Director Zsolt Spéder sits on the administrative board of the international GGP (Generations and Gender Programme) consortium, a major European research infrastructure to which INED likewise contributes.
