Education and selective emigration

The error of all-negative views of immigrants and their lives. With Mathieu Ichou

“Migrations and minorities in France today” was the subject of INED’s “Rencontres de la Démo” mini-conference of 15 December 2016.
Mathieu Ichou demonstrates how the belief that France is currently taking in “la misère du monde” (i.e., all the world’s poor and suffering) is ungrounded and the expression itself reductive. While immigrant’s situations are on average less favorable than those of native French, it is crucial not to underestimate immigrant diversity are or lose sight of the fact that, on average, immigrants are higher educated than the majority of people in the countries they left from.
