The SFdS was officially founded on 6 August 1997 and currently has around a thousand members. It aims to promote the use of statistics, to encourage methodological developments and to represent all those who apply, teach or study statistical methods. The SFdS aims to facilitate communication between statisticians working in the government departments, private companies, teaching establishments and research.
