ALAP (Asociación Latinoamericana de Población) was founded in 2004 in Brazil. Its purpose is to promote relations between academics and students in sociodemography, to organize meetings, seminars and conferences and to publish studies on relevant topics. It aims to be a key consulting body for decision makers in the fields of development, migration, poverty reduction and demographic change in Latin American countries.
