This research unit focuses on trends in marriage and the family in France and other industrialized countries. It studies the diffusion of new forms of partnership and family structures and examines changes in the family environment affecting children. It monitors fertility trends – the mean number of children per woman – and the factors affecting fertility, notably child desire, fecundity, contraception and induced abortion.
